The primary intention of this conceptual urban design strategy was to reconnect the Lunenburg Waterfront to the historic town grid through a typological re-adaptation to the landscape. As a group, we analyzed Lunenburg’s existing urban typologies and reimagined ways to inhabit them. Through an iterative process, we explored new combinations that reinterpret the town’s morphology. The approach allowed us to consider how the waterfront's character would change if we removed the urban boundary between the town and the working waterfront. Through this framework, we redeveloped the existing colonial grid while making an attempt to maintain the inherent charm of the historic town.
