Location: Dalhousie Sexton Campus, Halifax, N.S.
Project: B5 Design proposal - Dalhousie
Typology: Institutional/Educational
Completed: Winter 2026
This project frames sustainability as ritual. Publicly accessible programming, adaptable exhibition spaces, context-driven systems and materials provide a framework for sustainable practices to become embedded into daily life: Collectively understood, enacted and ritualized.
The design restores the lost streetwall along Queen Street, re-establishing human scale and civic presence while transforming the once empty site into an active public interface of plazas, gathering spaces, and exchange. Three interconnected structures form an enclosed campus that mediates between academic life and the city. The strategies incorporated into this project enable sustainability not only to be studied within the school, but lived, seen, and shared as part of everyday urban life.
